Ocampo signs LOI with BU XC

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University head cross country coach Craig Christians announced today the signing of Miguel Ocampo (Omaha, Neb./Omaha Central HS) to a Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall.

Ocampo comes to Bellevue as a member of the Omaha Central High School Class of 2020. He owns personal best times of 18:36.9 (5K Cross Country) and 5:19.76 (1600M Tack).

Coach Christians on Ocampo:

"I'm excited to welcome Miguel to the Bruin cross country and track teams. He comes in with just one high school season of cross country and one of track so I think he has a high ceiling based on what he accomplished in that single season. I like his enthusiasm and he's going to bring positive energy to the team."

Ocampo joins earlier signees Gabe Poppen (Glenwood, Iowa/Cornerstone Christian) and Dixon Kiptoo (Eldoret, Kenya/Carl Sandburg College) in the Bruins' 2020 recruiting class.

In just their second year of competition, the BU men's cross country team earned a fourth place finish at the NSAA Cross Country Championships and registered a sixth place showing at the NSAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
