Bruins wrap up regular season at CUNE Invite

SEWARD, Neb. -- After competing in two other events, Desyebelew Debesh turned in the highlight performance of the meet for the Bruins as he established a new school record in the 3000-meter race as the Bellevue University cross country/track team competed at the Concordia University Invite on Friday.

Men's Results:

Cole Wagner ran a 5:18.38 one-mile and Edrei Murillo raced to a season-best time of 9:32.09 in the 3000-meter, the lone even for each athlete.

Salah Hilowle and Chris Casart each made his season debut with Hilowle competing in two events (400M, 600M) and Casart running in the 3000-meter. Hilowle turned in times of 59.11 and 1:44.81 in his events while Casart notched a time of 9:58.77.

Debesh competed in three events, netting season-bests in both the one-mile and 3000-meter, the latter of which he established a new school record. Debesh recorded a time of 4:44.51 mile and a 9:28.92 time in the 3000-meter. He also ran the 1000-meter race in a time of 2:47.47.

Women's Results:

Two Bruins turned in season-best times in the one-mile race. Dayana Montano-Salama and Diana Montano-Salama ran to bests of 6:30.17 and 7:01.27, respectively. The duo also ran in the 1000-meter with times of 3:48.57 for Dayana Montano-Salama and 4:12.10 for Diana Montano-Salama.

Lorena Ramirez was the third Bruin to compete on the day, turning in a time of 5:53.50 in the one-mile, her lone event.

Bellevue wraps up the indoor portion of their schedule on Friday, Feb. 22 at the NSAA Championship which will be held in Brookings, S.D. beginning at 10 a.m.
