Christians signs two from Omaha South to NLIs

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University cross country and track coach Craig Christians announced today the signing of a pair of student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Edrei Murillo and Salah Hilowle have both committed to further their academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2019.

Both Murillo and Hilowle are seniors at Omaha South High School and run for Coach John Tripp.

Murillo has been running for three seasons at South, progressing from the junior varsity team as a sophomore to South's first or second runner on this past fall's cross country team. He has competed on the South track team for three years as well and has already ran near his personal bests in the Packers' first meet of the season. He has PRs of 4:50.67 (1600M), 10:29.56 (3200M), and 17:12.7 (5K Cross Country).

Hilowle has run at South for four seasons. He was South's third man across the finish line in the 2018 district cross country meet. He holds PRs of 5:07.42 (1600M), 11:25.63 (3200M), and 17:55.4 (5K Cross Country).

Coach Christians on Murillo and Hilowle:

"Both Edrei and Salah bring a ton of running potential to our young program. Having trained under Coach Tripp at South, I am confident that they are grounded in the philosophy and passion for distance running that is going to make them a great fit here. They are both highly regarded at South as young men of character, too."

Bellevue wrapped up their first varsity season in the fall of 2018 with a fifth place finish at the North Star Athletic Association Championships and seeing their first runner pick up all-conference honors.
