Bruin men finish fifth at NSAA Championships

WEST SALEM, Wis. -- Led by freshman Cole Wagner, Bellevue University men's cross country team finished in fifth place Saturday at the North Star Athletic Association Championship at the 8K course at Maple Groves Venue. 

Dakota State University won the league title finishing with a team score of 36. The Trojans had the top two runners in Braden Curnow (25:56.1) and Max Cruse (26:22.8).

The Bruins finished with a team score of 123

Wagner earned all-conference honors by finishing in eighth place with a time of 27:21.9. He was edged at the finish line by Dickinson State's Tristen Guillot, missing out on an NAIA Nationals qualifying time by .02 seconds. 

Chris Casart placed 17th with a time of 28:05.1. Tony Chol finished with a time of 29:05.3 to put him in 28th place. Jason Landin finished in 31st with a time of 29:33.7. The final BU runner was Aaron Newton, who finished in 39th place with a time of 31:49.1.

The meet wrapped up the 2018 season for the Bruins.
