SEWARD, Neb. -- Junior Luis Casallas Vega ran to a new Bruin school record in the 1000-meter run to highlight Bellevue University's performances at Friday's Polar Dog indoor track invite hosted by Concordia (Neb.) University.
Casillas Vega ran unchallenged from the start to win the event in a school record 2:38.63, an eight-second improvement on the old mark from 2020.
In the mile run, Jose Lara Flores ran to a fifth-place finish in 4:30.25 and now sits at no. 4 on the indoor season performance list among NSAA runners. Bruin men occupy four of the top six spots in the mile. Alejandro Corona Martinez finished in a time of 5:18.75 in the mile.
On the women's side of the mile, Alicia Rivera Camargo improved on her run of a week ago with a time of 6:08.90. Ashley Guatemala ran to a 6:33.05 time in the mile.
In other action this weekend, Richard Marcoux competed in the USD Alumni Meet in Vermillion, S.D., and finished in fourth place in the mile in a time of 4:22.86. The field was dominated by NCAA Division I and II competitors.
The Bruins return to action next Friday at the Bob Devaney Center in Lincoln, Neb., where Nebraska Wesleyan University will host the Prairie Wolf Invite.
