SEWARD, Neb. -- The Bruin men's and women's track squads cut significant time in their second outing of the season, and as was the case a week ago in Kearney, the day was highlighted by a school record.

Friday's Concordia Invite was held under partly sunny skies and temperatures near 60 at Bulldog Stadium in Seward, conditions conducive to good racing. The meet, originally scheduled for Saturday, was moved a day ahead to avoid forecasted storms. Richard Marcoux took advantage of the conditions and made a big move on his comeback trail with a 1:57.70 time, good for eleventh place overall. That time is the second-best in Bruin history behind only his own school record. Saba Khvichava made strides as well, with a two-second improvement from last week, lowering his season best to 2:03.08. Finally, for the Bruins, Robbie Siford made his debut at the distance and turned in a 2:11.71, just a second from his lifetime best.

In the 1500-meter run, Alicia Rivera Camargo saw an eight-second reduction from a week ago with her run of 5:21.72, eighth fastest on the Bruin All-Time charts. For the men, Collin Kotz closed hard to win the first heat of the men's 1500, running 4:18.75 to finish ninth overall among all entrants and take the ninth position in Bruin history. Griffin Kipchumba made his debut at the distance and finished in 4:30.54.

The final event of the day saw the establishment of a new Bruin school record as the team of Marcoux, Khvichava, Kotz, and Siford each ran a leg of the 4 x 800-meter relay and came home in 8:37.26 to take a half minute from the old mark, finishing in third.

Assistant Coach Matt Musiel: "We took another step in the right direction today, dropping a lot of time from our races of a week ago. I'm looking forward to the Sioux City Relays and some really good competition up there next weekend. The attitude and effort have been great so far."

The Bruins will compete in the two-day Sioux City Relays on April 12 and 13, hosted by Morningside University at Olsen Stadium.
