Moros Sanz matches assist mark in win at Hastings

HASTINGS, Neb. -- Álvaro Moros Sanz matched a program record with three assists to help the Bellevue University men's soccer team to a thorough 5-0 thrashing of rival Hastings College on Wednesday evening.

With their fifth-straight victory, Bellevue improves to 10-5-2 on the year and has out-scored its opposition 24-0 during their current run. Hastings slides to 5-7-4 with the loss.

Álvaro Moros Sanz assisted each of the first three Bruin goals on the night. Fletcher Hedge and Kevin Becerril each notched braces as the five goals scored by BU were their most against the Broncos since a 5-4 win on Oct. 23, 1998.

Moros Sanz set up Giovani Lima Soares with his first assist. Lima Soares netted his second goal in the 26th minute to put the Bruins on the board first.

Bellevue held that lead into halftime on the strength of a 12-shot-to-two advantage.

Each of Moros Sanz's next two assists went to Hedge, who scored in the 58th and 64th minutes to bring his season total to a team-high seven goals.

Becerril scored twice inside the game's final five minutes. Ombeni Mubake assisted his 86th-minute tally, and David Rojas provided the help in the 89th minute. He now has three goals on the season.

Taariq Ganga made three saves as the Bruins posted their fifth-straight shutout. The shutout was his seventh of the year – the team's ninth – and he has not allowed a goal in his last 460:17 minutes of game action.

Jack Howard made the four saves credited to Bronco keepers on the night. Bellevue out-shot Hastings 19-10 and 9-3 on goal while also collecting a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Bruins wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Judson University (5-7-2). Kick-off is set for 2:30 p.m. from Dawson Field in Elgin, Ill.
