Bellevue falls to No. 8 Grizzlies

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- A goal in each half saw the Bellevue University men's soccer team fall to No. 8 Georgia Gwinnett College, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at the CAC Classic.

Georgia Gwinnett's Karim Tmimi opened the scoring with his 31st minute goal, assisted by Jason Strambu.

By halftime, the Grizzlies had racked up eight shots to Bellevue's six.

Strambu, who had assisted on the first goal, provided an insurance strike for the Grizzlies in the 67th minute. Marco Panaccione provided the assist.

Georgia Gwinnett out-shot Bellevue 22-14 on the afternoon, including 7-3 in shots on goal, while each team finished with six corner kicks.

The always-spirited match-up saw seven yellow cards issued in addition to another 18 fouls called.

Romeo Paparesta finished with five saves in goal for the Bruins.

Ron Boaz stopped all three shots he faces for GGC to record the shutout.
