LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University freshman goalkeeper Romeo Paparesta (Bari, Italy) has been recognized as the Continental Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in last week's win over Waldorf.
Paparesta directed a stingy Bruin defense that did not yield a shot on goal in BU's 2-0 win over Waldorf last week as he picked up his fourth shutout of the season.
On the season, Paparesta has posted a 1.00 goals against average and .750 save percentage while handling goalkeeping duties in each of Bellevue's past 10 games.
Bellevue has a big week upcoming with a pair of CAC games. First, BU plays Iowa Wesleyan on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. before facing #10 Georgia Gwinnett on Sunday, Oct. 16 at noon. Both those games will be played in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as part of the CAC Classic.
