Bruins attack relentless in 7-1 triumph over Benedictine

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Oumar Sissoko scored twice and six different Bruins found the back of the net in the Bellevue University men's soccer team's 7-1 win over Benedictine College on Saturday evening at Papillion Landing.

Records:

#8 Bellevue: 2-0-1
Benedictine: 0-2-0

Bellevue 7, Benedictine 1

Oumar Sissoko scored his second and third goals of the season in a four-goal first half for the Bruins. AJ Jarvis assisted on the first (9') and Guilherme Alencar provided the assist on the second (26') that Sissoko scored from a seated position.

With a 1-0 BU lead, the game-defining call came in the 15th minute when Alencar, on a breakaway, was hauled down in the box by Kanak Masten. Toby Millward converted the ensuing penalty kick while Masten was sent off and the Ravens played a man down for the remainder of the contest.

Antonio Capra made his way onto the score sheet with his first strike of the season in the 41st, slamming home a shot nearside after a cross from Jaeger Erickson.

Adem Arouma scored a penalty for Benedictine in the 60th minute to make it a 4-1 game.

Bellevue added three more goals in less than four minutes to put an exclamation mark on the victory. Anthony Cox (75'), John Cover (77'), and Max Lambert (79') each scored their first collegiate goals in the victory.

Bellevue finished with a 19-3 advantage in shots and a slight 4-3 advantage in corners.

Coach Mark Heath-Preston:

"Another good performance. The quality of the guys coming off the bench make a real difference and is having a massive impact on the games."

Man of the Match:

Coach Graeme Eaglesham – Following some miscommunication, Coach Eaglesham made the run back to campus to grab the Bruins' white kits when Benedictine turned up wearing black, which BU had intended to wear for the game.

Bellevue travels to Oskaloosa, Iowa on Wednesday, Sept. 1 where they face William Penn University (2-0-0), a National Tournament team last season, at 6 p.m. from Drost Field.
