SEWARD, Neb. -- Senior Alan Carr scored the game-winner in the 12th minute and sophomore Rob Smith added an insurance goal in the 84th minute to lead the Bellevue University men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Concordia University in Seward, Neb. on Thursday night.

Carr opened the scoring with his first goal of the season in the 12th minute on a free kick from 25 yards out. It would be the only goal of the opening 45 minutes as Bellevue went on to carry a 1-0 lead into the intermission.

Smith added an insurance goal in the 84th minute. The strike was his second tally of the year and the second straight match in which he's scored.

The Bruin defense limited Concordia to five shots on goal as junior Ben Martin posted his fourth clean sheet of the campaign. Bellevue was out-shot by the hosts by a 12-9 margin but held a 7-5 edge in shots on goal. The Bulldogs also won six corners, compared to three for BU.

Bellevue (4-1-1) next plays on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.
