BETHANY, Okla. -- The Bellevue University men's soccer team picked up its first win of the season at Southwestern Christian University, edging the Eagles 2-1 in their conference opener on Saturday afternoon.
The Bruins are now 1-11-0 and 1-0 in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action while the Eagles fell to 4-6-3 overall and 1-1-1 in league play.
Tom Dodds scored his first goal of the season off a free kick by Nathan Wetton in the 19th minute of action.
Michael Conchie netted the game-winning goal at 53:47, beating SCU goalkeeper Sam Taylor to a loose ball, leaving an empty net for Conchie's first goal of the season.
Adam Kay put SCU on the scoreboard in the 88th minute on a header off a cross into the box.
SCU out shot BU 15-14, including 10-6 in shots on goal.
Luke Baxter notched nine saves in the win.
The Bruins will continue conference action next week when they travel to York College on Saturday, Oct. 15 for a 1:00 p.m. match against the in-state rival.
