Lastra's late goal gives Bruins 2-1 win over Tigers

McPHERSON, Kan. -- Sophomore David Lastra scored with just under eight minutes remaining in the game to give the Bellevue University men's soccer team a 2-1 conference victory over Central Christian College Saturday afternoon on the Tiger campus.

The Bruins improved to 12-5-1 on the season, finishing 4-0 in league play. Central Christian fell to 12-5-1 overall and 2-2 in MCAC action.

The Tigers took a 1-0 lead at 33:05 on a penalty kick from Grant Rardon following a yellow card by Bruin goalkeeper Sebastian Narvaez.

The Bruins tied it up in the 18th minute when freshman Nathan Wetton scored his first career goal on an assist by senior Julio Estrada.

Neither team scored again until Lastra's gamewinner at 82:01. It was Lastra's team-leading sixth gamewinning goal of the season.

Bellevue held a slight 16-14 advantage in shots and a 7-4 margin in shots on goal.  Narvaez improved to 11-5-1 on the season, while collecting three saves in the victory.

The Bruins will await word of their post-season fate when pairings for the MCAC-FAC-DAC Independent Tournament are announced later next week.
