
MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Led by individual leader Cayden Wynne, the Bellevue University men's golf team is currently in first place after the opening two rounds of play at the 13-team Midwest Spring National Invite being played at the 7,049-yard, par 72 Colbert Hills Golf Course.
The Bruins are 4-under par as a team with team rounds of 2-over 290 and 6-under par 282.
BU holds a 22-stroke lead over second-place Northwestern (Iowa) College. Friends University and Hastings College are tied for third, 25 strokes off the pace.
Wynne fired rounds of 2-under 70 and five-under 67, putting him at 7-under par for the tournament. He had six birdies in the opening round and five more in round two.
Thomas Gatlin is in second place in the 71-player field at 3-under par. He shot rounds of even-par 72 and 3-under 69. His second round was highlighted by a 3-under 33 on the front nine. He had five birdies and 26 pars on the day.
Wynne, Gatlin, and Northwestern's Qwenton Caldwell (1-under) are the only three players currently under par for the tournament.
Dylan Rodgers posted rounds of 3-over 75 and 1-under 71 to put him in a tie for sixth place at 2-over par after 36 holes. He recorded four birdies and 27 pars in Monday's first two rounds.
Totte Uhlan is currently at 6-over par and in a tie for 16th place after carding identical rounds of 3-over 75. He posted 15 pars and three bogeys in the opening round. His second round was sparked by three birdies.
Kyle Dale rounded out the Bruin scoring on the day with rounds of 73 and 80 to put him at 9-over par for the tournament and in a tie for 27th place. He produced four birdies and 21 pars in his two rounds.
Tuesday's final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
