Bruins climb into fifth on final day of Kyle Blaser Invite

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team turned in their best round of the tournament to climb one spot for a fifth-place finish at the Kyle Blaser Invitational.
The tournament was played at the 7,255-yard, par 72 Gaillardia Country Club and hosted by Oklahoma City University.

No. 4 Oklahoma City ran away with the team title, turning in a tournament-best 5-over final round to finish at 29-over. No. 9 Wayland Baptist University finished a distant second at 73-over.

The Bruins shot 28-over as a team to finish the three-round event at 95-over, jumping Kansas Wesleyan University to claim a top-five finish.

The duo of Cayden Wynne and Dylan Rodgers again pace the Bruins, shooting matching 5-over 77 scores in Tuesday's final round.

Wynne knocked in a team-high three birdies on the day, doing so on No. 7 (403-yar, par 4), No. 15 (208-yard, par 3), and No. 18 (540-yard, par 5). Starting on No. 14, he was 1-under for the day to enter the final six holes but posted bogeys on each.

Rodgers turned in 12 pars and made a birdie on No. 17 (395-yard, par 4). He finished his day strong, making par on eight of his final nine holes. Both he and Wynne finished in a tie for 13th place at 19-over (235) par.

Thomas Gatlin and Randy Christiansen each posted 9-over rounds. Gatlin registered Bellevue's lone eagle on the day, doing so on No. 18. Christiansen made birdies on No. 6 (556-yard, par 5) and No. 14 (597-yard, par 5). Gatlin finished tied for 35th at 32-over, while Christiansen finished in a tie for 37th place at 33-over.

Kyle Dale shot 11-over on the day. He recorded seven of 10 pars on the front nine, where he posted a 2-over 38. He finished 28-over in 26th place.

Ludwig Klingspor, golfing as an individual, matched Dale's 11-over round with one of his own. He finished 40th overall at 34-over. His round was highlighted by seven pars.

Oklahoma City's Tres Hill shot 1-under on the day to finish 1-under and take the individual title. He claimed a four-stroke victory over Southwestern Christian's Grant Ferreira, who shot par on Tuesday to finish 3-over.

Bellevue returns to the links on Monday-Tuesday, Mar. 24-25, where they'll compete in The Battle at Laughlin Ranch in Bullhead City, Ariz., at the Laughlin Ranch Golf Club.
