Rodgers, Wynne pace BU on Day One of Kyle Blaser Invite

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Cayden Wynne and Dylan Rodgers were the top two individuals for the Bellevue University men's golf team on the day as BU completed two rounds of play at the Kyle Blaser Invitational.

Teams battled through screaming winds at the 7,255-yard, par 72 Gaillardia Country Club.

Tournament host No. 4 Oklahoma City University holds the team lead through two rounds. The Stars posted a 16-over first round and backed it up with an 8-over second round to establish a 13-stroke lead of second place No. 9 Wayland Baptist University.

The Bruins shaved nine strokes off their first round 326 (+38) to record a 317 (+29) second round. BU is in sixth place at 67-over.

Cayden Wynne (76-82) and Dylan Rodgers (81-77) are tied for 15th in the 52-golfer field, posting matching scores of 14-over (158) on the day.

Wynne posted five birdies on the day, three coming in the first round and two more in the second. He birdied the 556-yard, par 5 No. 6 in each round while also recording birdies on No. 3 (562-yard, par 5) and No. 18 (540-yard, par 5) in the first round and No. 14 (597-yard, par 5) in the second.

Rodgers was 9-over in the first round but made par on 10 holes. He notched both of his birdies – No. 6 and No. 18 – in the second round as he improved by four strokes, shooting a 5-over 77. He added nine pars in the round to finish with 19 on the day.

Kyle Dale was the third scoring golfer for the Bruins. He is in 21st place at 17-over through two rounds of play. He followed up his first round 11-over with a 78 in the second round that featured birdies on No. 1 (440-yard, par 4) and No. 5 as he shot a 1-under front nine in the round. Along with that, he recorded 10 pars for a total of 19 pars on the day.

Thomas Gatlin is tied in 36th place at 23-over through 36 holes of action. His day was highlighted by a birdie on No. 18 in the first round and birdies on No. 6 and No. 14 in the second to go along with 13 pars. He improved by seven strokes from round one to round two, cutting his score from 15-over to 8-over.

Randy Christiansen recorded birdies No. 6 in his first round and on No. 18 during his second. Those birdies were accompanied by 18 pars as he shot 24-over for the day and is in 42nd place. He shot 14-over in the first round and backed it up with a 10-over second round.

Golfing as an individual, Ludwig Klingspor finds himself tied in 36th place at 23-over. He posted birdies in each of his two rounds, doing so on No. 6 in his 9-over first round and on No. 18 during his 14-over second round.

Oklahoma City's Tres Hill is the overall leader at even par. Following a 2-over first round, he logged a 2-under second round. Southwestern Christian University's Grant Ferreira is three strokes back at 3-over. He fired a 6-over first round before posting a tournament-best 3-under second round.
