
WICHITA, Kan. -- Cayden Wynne is tied for first overall and the Bellevue University men's golf team is alone in second after two rounds of play at the Crestview Spring Invitational.
The tournament is being hosted by Friends University at the 6,913-yard, par 72 Crestview Country Club.
No. 7-ranked Friends leads the Bruins by nine strokes after 36 holes of play. The Falcons shot a 10-under first round while BU was at even par through 18. In the second round, Bellevue shot round-best 5-over, while Friends was a stroke off that pace at 6-over.
Friends is 4-under as a team and Bellevue is 5-over while Iowa Western Community College rounds out the top three at 7-over.
BU's Cayden Wynne and Friends' Trenton Sutherland share the individual lead at 5-under. Sutherland put forth a 5-under first round and an even-par second while Wynne posted a 2-under first round and backed it up with a 3-under second round, tied for the best in the field.
Wynne sank 11 birdies on the day, including five on the back nine of his second round. Twice each, he birdied No. 4 (397-yard, par 4), No. 14 (501-yard, par 5), and No. 18 (520-yard, par 5). He was 7-under on the back nine for the day.
Thomas Gatlin and Dylan Rodgers are tied in seventh place at 1-over for the event.
Gatlin shot a 1-under first round with three birdies and carded a 2-over second round, highlighted by a birdie on No. 10 (428-yard, par 4). He totaled a 4-under score on 18 back nine holes, recording four birdies without a single bogey.
Rodgers was 1-under in the first round. He recorded three birdies through his first seven holes en route to a 2-under front nine and closed the round with a birdie on No. 18. The second round saw him shoot 2-over but was a tidy 1-under over the final 10 holes with birdies on No. 11 (339-yard, par 4) and No. 14.
Kyle Dale is tied for 28th place at 10-over. Dale shot 6-over in the first round and shaved two strokes off his score in the second with a 4-over round. He nabbed a trio of birdies in each round, doing so on No. 6, 10, and 16 in round one and on No. 3, 14, and 18 in round two.
Ludwig Klingspor shot a 14-over and finds himself in 32nd overall. He was four-over in a first round that featured a trio of birdies, including on back-to-back holes (No. 14 and No. 15). He shot 10-over in the second round with another birdie on No. 14 and pars on seven holes.
Randy Christensen, golfing as an individual, shot 12-over and is in 30th in the 78-golfer field. He was 4-over after a first round that saw him make birdies on No. 3 (343-yard, par 4) and No. 10. He shot an 8-over second round, highlighted by a birdie on No. 15 (391-yard, par 4).
