
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- Battling extremely adverse weather conditions with temperatures in the lower 40s and wind gusts over 30 miles per hour on the banks of Lake Michigan, the Bellevue University men's golf team moved up two spots to finish in fifth place in the 13-team Whistling Straits Championship being played at the 6,924-yard, par-72 Whistling Straits Golf Course.
The Bruins shot a team score of 47-over par to finish the tournament at 75-over (316-335). Indiana Wesleyan captured the team title, finishing at 55-over par with rounds of 311 and 320.
Cayden Wynne was the top BU golfer on the day, finishing with an 8-over par 80, putting him in a tie for fifth place overall at 14-over (78-80) for the tournament. He had one birdie and 10 pars in the second round.
Thomas Gatlin carded a 14-over 86 to go with Monday's 2-over 74. His 16-over total put him in a tie for 12th place in the 67-player field. Back-to-back birdies on the second and third holes highlighted his round.
Randy Christiansen posted a 9-over 81 and finished in a tie for 22nd place at 21-over par for the tournament. He had nine pars and nine bogeys in the second round.
Dylan Rodgers finished the tournament at 30-over par with rounds of 86 and 88, putting him in a tie for 48th place overall. Eight pars highlighted his day.
Kyle Dale rounded out the scoring with a 22-over 94, putting him at 30-over for the tournament and in a tie for 48th place with Rodgers.
Indiana Wesleyan's Sam Dykema won the individual crown at 12-over par, finishing with rounds of 76 and 80.
This week's tournament concludes the Bruins' fall portion of the 2024-25 season. BU will resume play in the spring.
