
NEWTON, Kan. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team moved up one spot after shooting a 6-over team score of 294, placing sixth at The Mid-South, which was contested at the 7,152-yard, par-72 Sand Creek Station.
The Bruins finished the 54-hole, 12-team tournament at 20-over par with scores of 288, 302, and 294. Wayland Baptist was the team champion, finishing at 3-under par. MidAmerica Nazarene was three strokes back at even par.
Sophomore Dylan Rodgers was the top BU finisher on the official scoring roster after carding an even-par 72 in the third round to finish the tournament at 3-over par, putting him in a tie for 20th place in the 75-player field.
Senior Cayden Wynne fired a 1-over 73, finishing the tournament at 5-over par and in a tie for 23rd place.
Ludwig Klingspor and Kyle Dale both finished in a tie for 27th place overall at 6-over par. Klingspor shot a 3-over 75, while Dale finished the tournament with a 2-over 74.
Thomas Gatlin, who was competing as an individual, had the top BU round on the day with a 1-under 71. He finished it a tie for 16th place in the individual standings at 2-over par.
Randy Christiansen, who also competed as an individual, finished in a tie for 33rd place at 7-over after shooting a 1-over 73 in the final round.
The Bruins will be idle until Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 16-17, when they will head to Le Mars, Iowa, to compete in the Northwest Iowa National Invite at Willow Creek Golf Course.
