DALTON, Ga. -- Freshman Sam Johnson carded a 3-over par score of 75 and is now in a tie for 23rd place, entering Friday's fourth and final round of the 2024 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship. The four-day, 72-hole tournament is being played at the 7,043-yard, par-72, Dalton Golf and Country Club. 

Johnson's third round was comprised of 15 pars and three bogeys. He is currently nine strokes out of the tournament lead. 

Truett McConnell's Peyton Shedd continues to lead the field after firing a 2-over par 74, putting him at even par after 54 holes of play. He has a one-stroke lead over Wayland Baptist's Benjamin Lubker. 

Thirteen golfers are within five strokes of the lead with 18 holes to play. 

In the team race, Texas Wesleyan holds a slim one-stroke over Dalton State and a three-stroke margin over Columbia (Mo.). TWU shot a 12-over-par team score of 300 and is 25-over-par for the tournament.  

Johnson, who is now 9-over par for the tournament, will tee off at 7:30 a.m. in Friday's final round.
