Bruins, Rodgers earn titles at Nebraska Intercollegiate

AXTELL, Neb.Dylan Rodgers won the individual title, and the Bellevue University men's golf team captured the team title Saturday at the Nebraska Intercollegiate being played at the 7,001-yard, par-72 Awarii Dunes Golf Club.

The Bruins fired a team score of 301 to finish the tournament at 27-over par, finishing 10 strokes ahead of second-place Southeast Community College. Bellevue had three players finish in the top 10 in the 55-player field.

Rodgers finished the tournament at even par after firing a 2-over 74 on Saturday. His round was highlighted by six birdies. Rodgers finished with identical scores of 37 on the front nine and back nine.

Sam Johnson placed sixth after carding a 3-over 75 and finishing the tournament at 5-over par. He had three birdies on the day, including back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes.

Hugo Brandt finished in a tie for 10th place after firing a 3-over 75 in the second round. He finished the tournament at 11-over par. Brandt had three birdies on the day.

Totte Uhlan tied for 16th place after registering an 8-over score of 80, finishing the tournament at 14-over par. Uhlan's round was sparked by a pair of birdies on the front nine.

Cayden Wynne improved on his opening-round score by seven strokes, collecting a 5-over par score of 77, finishing the tournament at 17-over par. He ended the tournament in a tie for 26th place.

The Bruins will be idle until Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 23-24, when they travel to Kohler, Wis., to compete in the Kohler Collegiate Classic, which will be played at Whistling Straits.
