Bonnet garners NSAA Men's Golfer of the Week honors

BISMARCK, N.D. -- Junior Baptiste Bonnet has earned North Star Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week honors for his performance last week in helping the Bruins to a second-place finish at the prestigious Primm Battle in Nipton, Calif. 

Bonnet tied for third (with teammate Rodrigo Navarrete) at 1-under par in the 54-hole event, which included 11 teams and 62 individuals. 

Bonnet shot the Bruins' lowest round of the tournament in the opening round after firing a 3-under 68 on the par-71, 6,945-yard Primm Valley Golf Club. He followed that up with rounds of 3-over 74 and 1-under 70. 

The tournament featured 10 teams represented in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll and four listed among the top 10 (No. 1 Keiser, No. 3 Bellevue, No. 8 OUAZ, and No. 9 Houston-Victoria). Other teams included No. 14 Wayland Baptist, No. 15 The Master's, No. 18 Victoria (B.C.), as well as (RV) Embry-Riddle (Ariz.), (RV) Arizona Christian, (RV) Grand View, and Park (Ariz.). 

The Bruins return to action next week when they travel to Rocky Face, Ga., to compete in the Roadrunner Classic at The Farm Golf Course on Monday-Tuesday, April 3-4. The tournament is being hosted by fourth-ranked Dalton State (Ga.) College.
