
NIPTON, Calif. -- The third-ranked Bellevue University men's golf team, led by the trio of Rodrigo Navarrete, Baptiste Bonnet, and Hugo Ronnberg is currently in third place in the 11-team Primm Battle being played at the par-71, 6,945-yard Primm Valley Golf Club. The teams completed 36 holes on Monday and will finish with 18 holes beginning Tuesday morning.
Bellevue shot rounds of 2-under par 282 and 8-over 292 and is currently 6-over par for the tournament. Ottawa (Ariz.) and Arizona Christian are tied for the team lead at 2-over par. Wayland Baptist and Keiser are both tied for fourth place at 8-over par.
Navarrete, Ronnberg, and Bonnet are all tied for sixth place in the 62-player field at even par. Navarrete shot rounds of 2-over 73 and 2-under 69. Ronnberg fired identical even-par rounds of 71. Bonnet carded the top BU round on the day with an opening-round 3-under 68 while finishing with a 3-over 74 in the second round.
Alex Zillig is tied for 34th after shooting a 1-under 70 and an 8-over 79 to put him at 7-over par.
Floris-Jan Oosterhof is currently in a tie for 47th place after shooting rounds of 75 and 78.
Hugo Brandt, who competed as an individual, is in 43rd place at 9-over par with rounds of 73 and 78.
Arizona Christian's Leon Acikalin holds a commanding six-shot lead in the individual standings at 9-under par with rounds of 65 and 68. Easton Johnson of The Master's is in second place at 3-under par.
Tuesday's final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
Notes: The tournament features 10 teams represented in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll and four listed among the top 10 (No. 1 Keiser, No. 3 Bellevue, No. 8 OUAZ, and No. 9 Houston-Victoria). Other teams include No. 14 Wayland Baptist, No. 15 The Master's, No. 18 Victoria (B.C.), as well as (RV) Embry-Riddle (Ariz.), (RV) Arizona Christian, (RV) Grand View, and Park (Ariz.).
