Zillig leads BU to second-place finish at NW Iowa Invite

LE MARS, Iowa -- Senior Alex Zillig fired a 4-under par 68 to help lead the Bellevue University men's golf team to a second-place finish in the 13-team Northwest Iowa National Invite being played at the 6,701-yard, par-72 Willow Creek Golf Club.  

The Bruins registered an even-par team score of 288 on the day and finished the 54-hole tournament at 3-over par. Ottawa (Ariz.) University captured the team title, six shots ahead of BU at 3-under par. The Spirit shot the best team score of the day with a 9-under 279. 

Zillig finished the tournament in a tie for second place at 3-under par with rounds of 72-73-68. His final round was sparked by five birdies, 12 pars, and just one bogey. Zillig moved up six spots on the day. 

Hugo Ronnberg tied for eighth place in the 68-player field after shooting 1-over 73 to finish 2-over for the tournament. His round was highlighted by an eagle "2" on the 372-yard, par 4 first hole. 

Rodrigo Navarrete tallied two birdies on the day and finished with a 5-over 77 to put him in a tie for 19th place. He started the day at even-par and finished the tournament at 5-over.

Floris-Jan Oosterhof moved up nine spots into a tie for 24th place after shooting BU's second-best round on the day, a 2-under 70. He finished the tournament at 6-over par. His round was highlighted by five birdies. 

Hugo Brandt registered a 5-over par 77 and finished 8-over for the tournament, putting him in 36th place overall. His round included a pair of birdies and 10 pars.  

Jack Dudeck of The Master's University won the individual title, finishing at 5-under par.  

The Bruins return to action on Oct. 3-4 when they travel to Lemont, Ill. to compete in the Flyer Intercollegiate Classic at the Cog Hill Golf and Country Club.
