School-record round leads to first-place tie at U.C. Ferguson Classic

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team set a school record for a single round with a 17-under par total of 267 to finish in a tie for first place at the U.C. Ferguson Classic being played at the par-71, 6,576-yard Lincoln Park Golf Course (West Course). 

The Bruins fired a two-round total of 26-under par - also a school-record for a 36-hole event - with rounds of 275 and 267. BU tied host Oklahoma City, who shot rounds of 281 and 261. 

Hugo Ronnberg shot the top BU round of the day with a 6-under 65 to finish at 5-under par for the tournament and in a tie for 10th place in the 102-player field. Ronnberg's round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 522-yard 16th hole. He also added four birdies and 13 pars. 

The top overall BU finisher in the tournament was Alex Zillig. He recorded a 4-under 67 to go with Monday's 3-under 68, putting him at 7-under par for the tournament and in a tie for fourth place. He collected an eagle on the par-5, 535-yard seventh hole along with four birdies. 

Rodrigo Navarrete carded a 2-under 69, finishing the tournament at 6-under par and in a tie for seventh place overall. 

Floris-Jan Oosterhof has the second-best Bruin round on the day, finishing with a 6-under 66. He was 5-under for the tournament and in a tie for 16th place. His round was sparked by six birdies. 

Hugo Brandt shot a 1-over 72, finishing the 36-hole tournament at 2-under par and in a tie for 26th place. He had four birdies in the second round. 

Oklahoma City's Will Fore was the tournament medalist, finishing at 14-under par with rounds of 65 and 63. 

The Bruins return to action next Tuesday-Wednesday, Sept. 6-7, when they head to Newton, Kan. for the Mid-South Classic, which will be played at Sand Creek Station.
