Bruins finish second at season-opening Mid-South Classic

Results

NEWTON, Kan. --  Led by Hugo Ronnberg, the Bellevue University golf team finished in second place in the season-opening 54-hole Mid South Classic being played at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course. 

The Bruins, who moved up one spot after Monday's opening 36 holes, finished three strokes behind tournament champion Oklahoma City University at 16-over par. 

Ronnberg fired the lowest BU score on the day with a 3-under 69. He finished the tournament in a tie for 11th place at 4-over par. Ronnberg's round was sparked by five birdies. 

The top overall Bruin in the tournament was Alex Zillig who finished in a tie for eighth place at 3-over par. He fired a 1-over 73 in the third round. Zillig, who played consistently throughout the event, recorded two birdies, three bogeys, and 13 pars. 

Floris-Jan Oosterhof placed in a tie for 13th in the 59-player field at 5-over par after shooting a 2-over 74. He collected three birdies on the day. 

Baptiste Bonnet shot a 6-over 78 and finished in a tie for 19th at 10-over par for the tournament. He had a pair of birdies in the third round. 

Hugo Brandt rounded out the Bruins' scoring, finishing in 25th place at 13-over par after carding a 2-over 73 on Tuesday. His round was sparked by four birdies. 

Oklahoma City had the top two golfers in the tournament with Dalton Daniel winning the individual title at 7-under par. Dylan Teeter placed second at 4-under. 

The Bruins will travel to Le Mars, Iowa on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 20-21 to compete in the Northwest Iowa Invitational being played at the Willow Creek Golf Course.
