Three from Men's Golf honored as All-Americans

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Three Bellevue University student-athletes were recognized with All-American honors for their performances during the 2021 season, as announced on Wednesday by the NAIA Men's Golf Coaches' Association All-America Committee.

Andre Becerra was named a second team All-American while Rodrigo Navarrete and Hugo Ronnberg were each recognized as third team All-American selections.

Becerra earned All-America honors for the second time in his BU career. He was a third team selection as a freshman in 2017. He was second on the team with a 73.24 scoring average and finished in the top 10 in eight of 11 tournaments in which he competed. In addition to winning the NSAA Championship for the third time in his career, he placed second at both the Maverick Invitational at The Creek and the NAIA National Preview.

Navarrete, the NSAA Golfer of the Year, was named a first team all-conference selection earlier in the year after posting a scoring average of 74.52 for the season. He placed in the top five individuals in eight of BU's 12 tournaments on the year, including winning the William Woods Spring Invitational and notching a second place finish at the Nebraska Intercollegiate Classic.

Ronnberg, also a first team all-NSAA selection, picks up his first All-American nod. The freshman made an immediate impact in the Bruin lineup during his debut season. He posted a team-leading scoring average of 73.14 while competing in eight events. He won the Nebraska Intercollegiate Classic and finished second at the NSAA Championships before going on to a 15th place finish at the National Championships.

Bellevue claimed their eighth conference tournament title (fourth since joining the NSAA) before going on to a seventh place finish at the NAIA National Championships, the program's second-best showing trailing only a fifth place finish in 2013.
