BU comfortably ahead after first round of NSAA Championships

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Bruin golfers occupy the top two spots on the individual leaderboard as the No. 4-ranked Bellevue University men's golf team sits 23 strokes ahead of second place Viterbo University atop the team standings after one round of play at the North Star Athletic Association Men's Golf Championship.

Recap:

Andre Becerra (-2) and Rodrigo Navarrete (E) are 1-2 in the individual standings for the Bruins who shot 293 (+9) as a team on the day.

Becerra birdied four holes on the day, including back-to-back holes (8 and 9) against a pair of bogeys. Navarrete matched his four birdies while making par on 11 of the 14 remaining holes.

Dickinson State's Bryce Reed (+3) is in third place which Brice Klabunde of Viterbo and BU's Hugo Ronnberg are tied for fourth place at 4-over with Ronnberg birdying four holes and parring eight others.

Hugo Brandt (+7) is ninth overall and Floris-Jan Oosterhof (+8) is in a three-way tie for 10th place. Brandt birdied on six and added 10 pars while Oosterhof birdied on 17 and also shot par on 10 holes.

Viterbo (316, +32) is 23 strokes behind Bellevue in second place with Waldorf (317, +33) and Dickinson State (322, +38) in close pursuit. Valley City State (354, +70) is fifth with Dakota State (412, +128) rounding out the field.
