Second title in a week for Bruins at Ryerson Classic

PELLA, Iowa -- With four of the top six scores, the Bellevue University men's golf team protected their first round lead to secure their second tournament victory of the week with a comfortable 14-stroke win at the Ryerson Fall Classic, hosted by Central College.

Team Recap:

The Bruins began the day 11 shots up on their "B" team and 26 strokes ahead of their nearest "A" team challenger, Wartburg. The finished 14 shots ahead of the "B" unit (608-622) and 32 strokes ahead of third place Central College.

BU netted a team-best 310 (+22) on the day while Bellevue's "B" squad again turned in the second-best performance, shooting 313 (+25) as a unit.

Central College improved considerable in round two, trimming 12 shots of their opening-round effort, to slip ahead of Wartburg 640-644 and into third place.

Individual Recap:

Floris-Jan Oosterhof took home the individual title with a 3-over 75 on Saturday. That came on the heels of yesterday's even-par effort. He edged out fellow Bruin Lucas Leinen (73-75—148) by a stroke to win.

Rodrigo Navarette (3rd), Alex Zillig (4th), and Andre Becerra (t-6th) joined Oosterhof near the top of the leaderboard. Navarette was one of two Bruin golfers to lower their score from round one (77) to round two (74) to finish +7 (151). Zillig (76-77—153) and Becerra (73-84—157) finished at +9 and +13, respectively.

Baptiste Bonnet (5th) and Evan Macke (t-6th) each recorded top 10 finishes golfing with the "B" group. Bonnet (+10) carded an 80 today to finish at 154 while Macke (+13) notched a 79 to finish at 157. Cameron Lampe was the other BU golfer to improve his score from Friday to Saturday, shaving five strokes off his first round 84 to shoot 79 on the day.
