MADISON, S.D. -- Sophomore Alex Zillig earned North Star Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week honors for his performance earlier this week in leading the Bruins to the title at the Southern Plains Intercollegiate Classic in Silvis, Ill.
Zillig earned his first collegiate tournament victory after posting an even-par two-round score of 142. Zillig, who shot par or better on 30-of-36 holes, fired a 1-under 70 in Monday's first round, followed up by a 1-over 72 in the final round on Tuesday. There were 100 golfers in the tournament.
Zillig helped propel BU to the team title in the 19-team field, which featured two other ranked teams: No. 18 Grand View and No. 22 Lindsey Wilson, as well as three other teams receiving votes: Campbellsville, Marian, and Columbia.
Bellevue wraps up the fall portion of their schedule on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 28-29 at the Southern Plains Intercollegiate, hosted by Oklahoma City University at the Gaillardia Country Club.
