BU finishes in 16th place at Nationals

Results

MESA, Ariz. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team shot its best team score of the tournament as the Bruins finished in 16th place at the 2019 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship being played at the 6,925-yard, par-71 Las Sendas Golf Club - Hilly Desert Course.

The Bruins fired a team total of 15-over par 299, finishing the 72-hole tournament at +83 (314-302-304-299 -- 1219). 

The leader from start-to-finish, Texas Wesleyan University captured the team title, finishing at 30-over par over the tournament's four rounds. Coastal Georgia was nine strokes back at 39-over. 

Floris-Jan Oosterhof shot the Bruins' top round on the day, carding a 1-over 72, finishing the tournament at 24-over par, good for a tie for 59th place. 

Andre Becerra finished in a tie for 33rd place after shooting a 4-over 75 on Friday, ending the tournament at 14-over par. 

Alex Zillig also shot a 4-over 75 and finished the tournament at 23-over par, putting him in a tie for 54th place. 

Juan Pablo Gomez was the fourth BU scorer on the day after shooting a 6-over 77. He tied for 81st place with a 36-over par 72-hole total. 

Rodrigo Navarrete finished the tournament at 34-over par after registering a 14-over par 85 on Friday. 

There was a three-way tie for first in the individual standings at 2-over par between Taylor University's Alec Dutkowski, British Columbia's Logan Carver, and Coastal Georgia's Mark Johnson.
