Bruins remain in 17th entering final round of Nationals

Results

MESA, Ariz. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team nearly matched their second round score with a third round team score of 304 (+20) at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship being played at the 6,925-yard, par-71 Las Sendas Golf Club – Hilly Desert Course.

The Bruins were led by Andre Becerra's even par-71 (223 total), the lowest round of the tournament by any BU golfer. Becerra now sits at in a tie for 30th overall in the now-90 golfer field.

Texas Wesleyan remains atop the team leaderboard – as the field was whittled to 17 teams prior to today's action – with a team score of 870 (293-283-294), 13 shots ahead of second place USC Beaufort's 883 (297-296-290). Coastal Georgia (887), Oklahoma City (890), and Keiser (894) round out the top five.

The Bruins team score of 304 has them at 920 for the tournament. They are within shouting distance of 15th place, four strokes back of Thomas (16th) and five back of Kansas Wesleyan (15th).

Rodrigo Navarette matched his second round 76 (233) and Alex Zillig fired a 77 on the day (232). Zillig is now tied for 59th overall with Navarette close behind in a tie for 62nd place.

Floris-Jan Oosterhof carded an 80 (236) and Juan Gomez checked out with an 81 (243) on the day. Oosterhof and Gomez are now tied for 71st and 82nd, respectively.

Kansas Wesleyan's Ben Hadden (73-211) continues to pace the individual leaderboard. He is followed by Texas Wesleyan's Victor Miron (73-213) and Oklahoma City's Ty Stites (68-214)

Pairings for tomorrow's final round will be announced later this evening.
