LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team fired a 298 second round to secure a second place finish at the NWU Spring Conference Preview played at the Hillcrest Country Club on Monday

Recap:

The Bruins entered the day in a three-way tie for first place alongside Nebraska Wesleyan and the University of Dubuque. Dubuque fell off the pace with a 317 and NWU carded a team score of 296 to eke out a two-stroke victory over BU.

Grant Johnson (Nebraska Wesleyan) shot even par over the 36-hole event to claim the individual title after beginning the day four shots back of Kane Hyde (Dubuque). Johnson edged out Kobe Rhodes (+1).

Juan Gomez was Bellevue's top finisher, wrapping up the event with a 2-over score.

Rodrigo Navarette and Andre Becerra carded matching 4-over scored to tie for sixth place, two strokes ahead of BU's fourth top-10 finisher Floris-Jan Oosterhof (+6, t-10).

Five other Bruins also competed at the event; Alex Zillig (t-12, +8), Lautaro Marzilio (t-19, +11), Evan Macke (t-27, +15), Lucas Leinen (t-27, +15), and Jose Garcia (t-27, +15).

Bellevue will next compete at the 2019 North Star Athletic Association Championship which the Bruins are hosting at the Platteview Country Club in Bellevue, Neb.
