INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Alex Zillig paced five Bruin golfers in the Top 20 with a 2-under round as the Bellevue University men's golf team sits atop the team standings after the first day of play in the Wildcat Cup at the Brickyard.

Team Recap:

With a first round team score of 290 (+2), the Bruins find themselves two strokes ahead of second place Indiana Wesleyan (292, +4) in the 18-team tournament. Three fellow Hoosier State schools Holy Cross (295, +7), Marian (297, +9), and Grace (298, +10) along with Mount Mercy (298, +10) round out a group of six teams that shot under 300 on the day.

Individual Recap:

Cameron Luczka (Indiana Wesleyan) is the individual leader at 7-under, four strokes ahead of Jay Williams (Marian) after the first round of play.

Alex Zillig is in a three-way tie for third place after carding a 2-under 70 on Monday.

Three other Bruin golfers find themselves in the Top 15 in the 97-golfer field. Andre Becerra (72, E) is tied for seventh while Rodrigo Navarette (74, +2) and Jose Garcia (74, +2) are tied with four others for 14th place.

Bellevue's fifth golfer, Juan Gomez (75, +3), also finds himself in the top 20 after 18 holes.
