Becerra tied for 68th after opening round at Nationals

SILVIS, Ill. -- Sophomore Andre Becerra fired a 4-over par 75 on Tuesday, putting him in a tie for 68th place after the first round of the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship being played at the par-71, 7,066-yard TPC at Deere Run.

Becerra, who is the lone Bruin competing after winning the NSAA Tournament earlier this month, produced two birdies and 14 pars in the opening round. After starting his round 6-over par following two triple-bogeys on the second and third holes, Becerra finished the final 15 holes at 2-under par, including shooting a 2-under 33 on the back nine.  

Keiser University's Jack Dyer leads the 156-player field at 5-under par after shooting a 66 on Tuesday. 

Keiser is also leading in the team standings after carding a 5-under team score of 279. 

Wednesday's second round will begin at 9 a.m.
