COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- Competing as the Bruins' lone individual golfer, Fernando Arzate won the individual title at the weather-shortened Bent Tree Intercollegiate on Monday. The participants completed 36 holes on Monday, but Tuesday's final round was canceled due to unplayable course conditions.
Arzate posted rounds of 74 and 71, finishing the tournament at 1-over par, edging out Indian Hills' Julien Sale, who finished at 2-over par.
A total of 38 individuals and six teams competed in the tournament, which was hosted by Iowa Western Community College.
The Bruins will travel to Kohler, Wis. on Oct. 16-17 to participate in the Whistling Straights Intercollegiate Championship.
