MEDORA, N.D. -- Led by Andre Becerra the Bellevue University men's golf team is currently tied for third place after the opening round of the North Star Athletic Association Championships being hosted by Dickinson State University at the 6,655-yard, par-72 Bully Pulpit Golf Course on Monday.
The Bruins registered a team total of 310 on Monday and are just 12 strokes out of first place. The University of Jamestown fired a 10-over team total of 298 to lead the tournament field. Viterbo is one stroke ahead of Bellevue at 309 and Valley City State is tied with the Bruins at 310.
Becerra is tied for the individual lead after carding a 1-over 73 on Monday. He is tied with Jamestown's Nathan Kapaun and Jacob Rice.
Lautaro Marzilio is tied for 11th after shooting a 6-over 78. Juan Gomez carded a 7-over 79 and is tied for 14th place. Fernando Arzate is tied for 17th after collecting an 8-over 80. Inaki Aldao finished with a 9-over 81 and is currently tied for 20th place.
Tomorrow's second round will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
