Big day by Becerra puts BU in second after two rounds at U.C. Ferguson Classic

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Led by sophomore Andre Becerra, the Bellevue University men's golf team is in the second place in the 10-team U.C. Ferguson Classic hosted by Oklahoma City University at the par-71 Lincoln Park Golf Course.

The Bruins shot rounds of 6-under 278 and 4-over 288 on Monday and are currently 2-under par as a team for the tournament. Host OCU has a 19-stroke advantage after shooting a 21-under par 547 (276-271). 

Becerra shot the second-best round in school history with a 6-under 65 in the morning's opening round. He followed that up with an even-par 71 in the afternoon and is currently in second place in the 54-player field. 

OCU's Rupert Kaminski has a one-stroke lead over Becerra and leads the tournament field at 7-under, with rounds of 69 and 66. 

Fernando Arzate and Juan Gomez are both tied for 10th place at even par. Arzate shot rounds of 73 and 69, while Gomez fired rounds of 68 and 74. 

Lautaro Marzilio is currently tied for 16th at 4-over par with rounds of 72 and 74. 

Tuesday's third and final round will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
