SILVIS, Ill. -- Due to continuous rain, the Bellevue University men's golf team's stay at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship was shortened after two rounds with the Bruins finishing in 23rd place in the 72-hole event being played at the par-71, 6,651-yard TPC at Deere Run.

Fourteen teams completed Wednesday's rain-plagued second round on Thursday morning and the top 17 teams after morning play made the cut for the final two rounds.

The cut was originally scheduled to take place after 54 holes, but poor weather caused that to be altered to 36 holes.

The 2016-17 Bruins won three titles including the North Star Athletic Association Tournament, qualifying for the NAIA National Tournament for the sixth-straight season under head coach Rob Brown.

Notes:

Earlier in the day, junior Fernando Arzate and freshman Andre Becerra were both named to the NAIA PING all-Central Region team. Both golfers captured one title on the season and led the Bruins in stroke average. Arzate led BU this season with seven top-10 finishes.
