
LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team finished in ninth place at the 18-team Battle at Primm Tuesday afternoon in the Bruins' opening event of the 2017 spring season. The 54-hole tournament was played at the 7,131-yard, par-72 Primm Valley Golf Club.
Fernando Arzate was the Bruins' top golfer in the tournament, finishing at 3-under par with a 213 total after rounds of 73-69-71. He finished in a tie for 8th place in the 90-player field.
Oklahoma City University won the team title with a 12-under team total of 852 (282-289-281). Keiser University finished in second place, three strokes behind the Stars.
Victoria (B.C.) University's Lawren Rowe captured the individual title with an 11-under par total of 205 (69-67-69).
Bellevue finished with a team total of 23-over par with team totals of 294-298-295 (887).
Andre Becerra finished the tournament at 1-over par (68-77-72), good for a tie for 18th place. Nicolas Handal was 13-over par for the tournament, placing him in a tie for 63rd place. Juan Gomez tied for 66th place with a 14-over par total. Diego Gudino rounded out the Bruins' scoring, finishing in a tie for 74th with a 17-over par total for the tournament.
The Bruins return to action when they travel to Fulton, Mo. for the William Woods Invitational on Mon.-Tues., March 27-28.
