
KOHLER, Wis. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team shaved 11 strokes off their first round score to compile a second round 310 and climb three places in the team standings. For their effort the Bruins finished in a tie for 12th at the Lawrence Tech. Kohler Classic at Whistling Straights.
Bellevue shares their 12th place finish with Viterbo University and Grace College.
After entering the day in sixth place, Fernando Arzate finished the tournament in a tie for 11th with a two-round total of 149.
Diego Gudino and Nicolas Handal – following his team-best 74 – both finished in a tie for _ place with identical 36-hole scores of 159. Juan Gomez finished with a score of 165 in a tie for 70th place while Inaki Aldao concluded the tournament with a 169 in a tie for 81st.
Texas Wesleyan won the team title with a score of 584 for a 10-stroke victory of Northwestern Ohio. Northern Michigan finished in third with a score of 595.
Texas Wesleyan's Leo Mathard carded a second round 70 to win the individual title with a combined score of 138, seven strokes ahead of second place Jon Schram of Grace College.
The Bruins wrap up the fall portion of their 2016-17 schedule and will resume in the spring.
