BU Men’s Golf wins SGU Fall Cavalier Classic, Gudino win individual title

SHAWNEE, Okla. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team, led by Diego Gudino's individual title, claimed their first tournament victory of the fall by winning the Saint Gregory's University Fall Cavalier Classic.

In total, Bellevue and Oklahoma Wesleyan each had three golfers finish in or tied for a top five finish. The Bruins clipped OKWU by a single stroke 584-585. UT-Dallas finished eight shots off the pace with a team score of 592. They were followed by St. Gregory's (602), Oklahoma Panhandle (648), and Kansas Wesleyan (661) in the team standings.

Diego Gudino followed up yesterday's 1-under performance with a 1-over 72 today to finish at even par finishing one stroke ahead of Preston Walker of Oklahoma Wesleyan.

Juan Gomez and Fernando Arzate carded 1-under and even par rounds, respectively, to finish in a tie for fifth with identical scores of 4-over for the tournament.

Lautaro Marzilio shot 79 on the day to finish in a tie for 13th place and Nicolas Handal registered a second round 81 to tie for 19th. Inaki Aldao, golfing as an individual, placed in a tie for 27th place after shooting 83 on the day.

The tournament was played at the 6,861-yard, Par 71, Shawnee Country Club.

Bellevue returns to the links on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 26-27 when they compete in the first two rounds of the NSAA Fall Conference Tournament in Albert Lea, Minn.
