SHAWNEE, Okla. -- Diego Gudino shot a first round-best 1-under 70 to lead the Bellevue University men's golf team to a first round lead at the St. Gregory's University Fall Cavalier Classic.
The Bruins, with a first round team total of 292, hold a two-stroke lead over second place Oklahoma Wesleyan n (294). Host St. Gregory's and Texas-Dallas are tied in third place with team scores of 300. Oklahoma Panhandle rounds out the top five with a score of 324.
The tournament is being played at the 6,861 yard, Par 71, Shawnee Country Club.
Gudino led all five BU golfers who shot under 80 in the first round. Lautaro Marzilio carded a 73 and is tied for fifth overall in the 37-golfer field. Nicolas Handal is BU's third golfer in the top 10, tied for seventh, after a mark of 74 in the opening round.
Fernando Arzate is 12th overall after a posting a first round 74 and Juan Gomez is tied for 13th with a first round score of 76.
Golfing as an individual, Inaki Aldao is tied for 17th with a score of 77.
