Bruins in 4th place after 2nd round at U.C. Ferguson Classic

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Fernando Arzate and Nicolas Handal are both at even par as the Bellevue University men's golf team sits in fourth place after two rounds of the U.C. Ferguson Classic being hosted by Oklahoma City University. 

The 12-team tournament is being played at the 6,576-yard, par-71 Lincoln Park Golf Course. The tournament field includes four-ranked teams in the preseason NAIA men's golf ratings – top-ranked and defending national champion Oklahoma City, third-ranked Texas Wesleyan, 17th-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan and No. 19 The Master's (Calif.).

Odessa College currently has a two-stroke lead over OCU with a 21-under par team total of 547 (275-272). OCU recorded rounds of 277 and 272 for a 549 total. Texas Wesleyan is in third with a 10-under total of 558 (282-276). The Bruins are currently 3-over par with a 571 team total. 

Arzate and Handal are both currently tied for 15th in the individual standings. Arzate shot identical rounds of even-par 71. Handal fired the Bruins' top round of the day with a 4-under 67 after shooting a 4-over 75 in the opening round. 

Diego Gudino and Juan Gomez are both tied for 27th in the 76-player field. Both are at 3-over par for the tournament. Lautaro Marzilio is tied for 49th with an 8-over total of 150 (72-78).

Odessa's Adam Blomme leads the tournament field at 13-under par.

The tournament will conclude on Wednesday (Sept. 7).
