Men’s Golf finishes fourth at Eagle Spring Classic

MARION, Iowa -- Fernando Arzate placed in a tie for 10th place after a pair of 2-over rounds to lead the Bellevue University men's golf team to a fourth place finish at the Eagle Spring Classic, hosted by Kirkwood Community College at Hunters Ridge Golf Course.

Mount Mercy University was the top finisher in the seven-team field with a two day total of 578, three strokes ahead of Indian Hills Community College and six ahead of Kirkwood Community College. Bellevue posted a team total of 624.

Carson Whittington (Kirkwood CC) won the individual title with a 5-under 139 for the tournament, edging teammate Jordan Even who shot a 2-under 142.

Diego Gudino carded the second-best total for the Bruins with a two-round score of 150, good for a tie for 14th place. His second round 74 matched Arzate for the best single round score by a Bruin.

Juan Gomez, Marc Juggins, and Nicolas Handal each totaled scores of 154 to place in a tie for 21st place while Tomas Ovejero shot 162 to place in a tie for 27th.

The Bruins are back on the links on Saturday-Sunday, April 2-3 when they compete at Otter Creek in Des Moines, Iowa in a tournament hosted by Iowa Central Community College.
