DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team was one of only three teams to complete play in Thursday's third round of the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship at LPGA International Champions Course.
The tournament, which was trimmed from 72 to 54 holes due to the inclement weather, will conclude on Friday.
Bellevue finished the third round with a team score of 306. The Bruins finished with a three-day team total of 918. Today's round will conclude the Bruins' 2013-14 season as Bellevue currently sits in 25th place in the team standings.
Faulkner University leads the 29-team field by two strokes but was unable to start play Thursday. A total of 24 teams did not begin the third round.
Jose Vega was the Bruins' top finisher, charting a 3-over 75 on the day for a 54-hole total of 12-over par 228, and is currently in a tie for 94th place.
Tomas Ovejero is in a tie for 105th place with a three-day total of 14-over par 230 after firing a 76 on Thursday.
Nicolas Herrera and Diego Gudino were right behind Ovejero, after both finished at 15-over par 231. Herrera tied Vega for BU's top round of the day with a 75.
Mike Hannon registered a three-day total of 244.
Jose Pable Ruiz of Tennessee Wesleyan University is the tournament's individual leader at 6-under par.
