OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Bellevue University men's golf team is in fifth place after the first day of competition at the U.C. Ferguson Classic hosted by Oklahoma City at Lincoln Park Golf Course on Monday.
Wayland Baptist University leads the 16-team field with a six-under-par team total of 278. Bellevue is in fifth place overall with a score of 289.
Jose Vega and Tomas Ovejero each finished with a two-under-par round of 69 to tie for fourth.
Nicolas Herrera is tied for 18th place with a first round total 72.
Nicolas Handal and Mike Hannon both carded a 79 to tie for 62nd overall.
Anders Ellingsberg (Wayland Baptist) is the individual leader with a five-under-par round of 66.
Tournament action will conclude tomorrow (Oct. 14) beginning at 8:30 a.m.
