Araujo earns second Player of the Week nod

MADISON, S.D. -- For the second time this season, senior Paulo Araujo has been named the North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performances in the Bruins' two league home contests against Dickinson State and Valley City State. 

Araujo averaged 24.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals in the two games. 

In the 84-72 victory over Valley City State, Araujo scored a career-high 37 points while adding nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals. During a seven-minute stretch in the second half, Araujo scored 21-straight BU points. His 37 points were the most scored by a BU player since the 1990 season when Derrick Helms scored 38 points against Concordia (Neb.). He scored 29 of his 37 points in the second half. 

Araujo registered 12 points, three assists, and a steal in the Bruins' 70-62 loss to Dickinson State. 

Araujo currently leads the team and is second in the NSAA in scoring at 15.2 points per game. In conference games only, Araujo leads the NSAA at 21.0 points per contest.  

The Bruins (10-7, 2-1 NSAA) will head to Aberdeen, S.D., this Friday, Jan. 13, for a 7:30 p.m. NSAA contest at Presentation College.
