Bruins elite as one of final eight teams in OW2 Homecoming Tournament

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University Overwatch 2 team concluded play in the Collegiate Homecoming Tournament this past weekend with a seventh place finish.

During the Preliminary Swiss Rounds, BU posted a 9-1 record which saw them place fourth out of 394 entrants.

The team was comprised of Mark Kvashin (Karova), Avery Hogue (AV2RY), Noah Haensel (ivory), Stone Nettles (Stone), and Veronica Haggerty (Scarlett) and coached by Nick McCormick (VitaCoco).

Bellevue began their postseason run with convincing 3-0 wins over Texas A&M and the University of North Texas before falling to Cumberland University 3-2 in the Round of 16. That loss dropped BU into the Losers Bracket.

After staving off elimination with a 3-0 win over St. Clair, the Bruins' avenged their lone loss during the Swiss Round, at the hands of Converse College, with a 3-0 victory to advance to the final eight.

Bellevue finally saw their playoff run come to an end with a 3-0 loss to Fisher College as. The team finished in seventh place overall, their best-ever finish in the event.

During the final three matches, all elimination games, there were an average of over 26,000 viewers on the live stream.

The Bruins are currently ranked No. 11 among collegiate Overwatch 2 teams and would appear primed to climb into the Top 10 for the first time when the new rankings come out.
