BU Esports readies for postseason

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- With the regular season portion of the spring schedule largely in the rearview, all four Bellevue University esports teams have advanced to their respective postseasons.

Apex Legends

In six Octane Collegiate League matches, the Bruins collected three first place finishes, a pair of second place finishes, and a third place finish in the 20-team rounds.

Bellevue's first season of Apex Legends since the 2019-20 season saw the Bruins win their conference and reach the playoffs where they will be joined by the top 10 programs in each of the six conferences on Friday, Mar. 15. The top 40 teams will advance to round two on Saturday, Mar. 16, with the top 20 competing in the finals on Sunday, Mar. 17.

League of Legends

The Bruins finished up the NECC regular season with a 4-2 record to clinch the No. 2 seed for the NECC League of Legends playoffs after missing the postseason in their first season back a year ago. The playoffs begin on Wednesday, Mar. 20

Overwatch 2

Bellevue's Overwatch 2 team posted a 6-0 mark in the NACE regular season to qualify for the 16-team playoffs. The Round of 16 is expected to begin on Tuesday, Apr. 2.

In the University of Kentucky Bluegrass Showdown IV, Bellevue has claimed the #3 seed following a 5-2 record in the Swiss Round. The Bruins travel to Lexington, Ky. to compete in person on Saturday, Mar. 23.

Valorant

Competing in Valorant for the first time ever, Bellevue posted a 5-2 regular season record in the NECC league. The playoffs are slated to being on Monday, Mar. 18 with full bracket information being released in the near future.
